The UKMB was incorporated on 11th February 2022 and the vision of its owners was to develop and implement a totally independent UK Conformity Assessment Body (CAB). The objective is to provide UK industry (notably in legal metrology) with a UK CAB that can supply a fast, professional, reliable and trustworthy certification service to clients both nationally and internationally.

UKAS accreditation requires UKMB to meet the applicable conformity assessment standards for conducting client assessments and certification. These are ISO/IEC 17065 (product, process ,services) for NAWI and MIR and ISO/IEC 17021-1 for approved verifiers (Section 11A W&M Act 1985).

In accordance with ISO/IEC 17065 and ISO/IEC 17021-1 our highly experienced auditing team will undertake all certification (approval) activities and with over 100 years combined experience you can ensure complete professionalism at all times.

UKMB administration is covered by Cognition Association Management. The Cognition team have over 34 years Association Management experience offering team stability and first-class customer service.

Our Technical Advisor brings over 35 years of legal metrology and auditing experience supporting the team on legislative and technical changes.

UKMB is supported by an advisory board (scheme committee) which is the mechanism for safeguarding impartiality and consists of eight to ten interested parties (stakeholders) with a balanced representation so that no single interest predominates. The advisory board supports the managing director and technical advisor in their roles.
