Statement of Impartiality

The United Kingdom Metrology Board (UKMB) understands the importance of impartiality in carrying out its certification activities, we manage conflicts of interest and ensure the objectivity of our certification activities. UKMB has processes in place to continuously identify any relationships which could present conflicts of interest and potential threats to impartiality and determine the necessary actions to eliminate or minimise such threats to ensure objectivity is maintained throughout.
UKMB has no direct involvement in the design, manufacture, supply, installation, use or maintenance of the items or similar competitive items that are type examined and are within the quality systems scope as per modules of the Regulations for NAWI and MIR.
UKMB is not an approved verifier for weighing equipment in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act 1985.
UKMB does not provide consultancy of any kind.
UKMB has appointed a committee of interested parties as a mechanism for overseeing and advising on impartiality.
All organisations working within the scope of UKMB certification services are afforded access to the certification schemes without any undue financial or other conditions and the procedures and standards we operate are administered in a non-discriminatory way. All organisations (including members of the UK Weighing Federation (UKWF)) are not treated in any preferential way commercial or otherwise.
UKMB has arrangements in place to confirm all personnel undertaking work are free of any commercial, financial or other pressures that might influence their judgement.
Organisations outside UKMB, including members of UKWF cannot influence the results of audits and certification in any way.
The remuneration of personnel involved with UKMB activities is in no way dependent on the outcome of certifications performed.
No business activities are undertaken which conflict with this independence of judgement and impartiality of opinion and action.
